IKEA Gluten Free Cakes

A couple of weeks ago, I found out that IKEA sells gluten free cakes, so I headed there this week to check them out.

The Orlando IKEA, which is next to The Mall at Millenia, has three different varieties of gluten free cake, which are all priced at $5.99.  The only one I didn't buy was the almond cake with milk chocolate and butterscotch, because I don't always love butterscotch, but after one of my blog readers described it as "AWESOME" on my Facebook page, I decided that I need to take another trip to IKEA soon.

Thursday night, we tried the blueberry cake.  The crust tasted like a nut crust, which I enjoyed, but my favorite part was the layer of blueberry mousse.  The cake was topped with a blueberry spread that reminded me of blueberry jam.  Overall, it was a very tasty cake, and not overly sweet.  Depending on how much dessert you like to eat, I would say these cakes serve four to eight people.

Friday, we had had the almond cake with dark chocolate for dessert.

I usually prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate, but this cake was just perfect as is.  Like the blueberry cake, it was not overly sweet, and it had a nice crunch to it.  Even my husband, who has an almond phobia because of childhood allergies, had a huge piece, and enjoyed every bite.

Both of the cakes contain eggs, milk, almonds, and soy.

We liked the almond cake with dark chocolate, and the blueberry cake enough to purchase them again, and I look forward to trying the almond cake with milk chocolate and butterscotch the next time I go to IKEA.  I found them in the frozen food section of the Swedish Food Market near the check-out area.

What are your favorite gluten free foods from IKEA?
