Sanaa Dinner - Kidani Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas

Earlier this month, my daughters and I had dinner at Sanaa, a table service restaurant at Kidani Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas.  Sanaa features African cooking with Indian flavors, and is one of our favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World, which is why we chose to have Christmas dinner there a few months ago.

Sanaa has an allergy-friendly menu that lists dishes that are safe for people with gluten/wheat, milk, egg, soy, fish/shellfish, and peanut/tree nut allergies.  Before the allergy-friendly menus were introduced at Disney World last year, a chef would come to your table to discuss your dietary needs, but now, if you are only avoiding one of the allergens listed, they will typically not visit your table unless you ask to speak to a chef.

Kona Cafe Lunch - Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

On Saturday, we had lunch at Kona Cafe, a table service restaurant at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.  In the past couple of years, it has become one of our favorite restaurants for lunch at Walt Disney World.

Last year, Kona Cafe adopted allergy-friendly menus, which list options for people with gluten/wheat, milk, egg, soy, fish/shellfish, and peanut/tree nut allergies.

Williams-Sonoma Gluten-Free Bellegem Waffle Mix

For Easter breakfast, I made waffles with Williams-Sonoma Gluten-Free Bellegem Waffle Mix.  We like to make waffles with Trader Joe's Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancake Mix, and Cup4CupPamela's, and Namaste waffle mixes, but the waffles we made this morning were the best I have had at home since my celiac diagnosis.

Williams-Sonoma Gluten-Free Bellegem Waffle Mix contains egg, and the package has a warning that it is, "prepared and packaged using machines that may come in contact with milk, soy, tree nuts (pecans, coconut)."

Raglan Road Lunch - Disney Springs

Earlier today, my daughters and I had lunch at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant in Disney Springs.  Raglan Road is not Disney owned and operated, so they do not have an allergy-friendly menu, but it is one of my favorite table service restaurants at Disney World for gluten free dining.

Their menu recently underwent some changes, and some of my favorite dishes, like the citrus salmon salad and crispy fried shrimp, are no longer on the lunch or dinner menus.  Thankfully, shrimp and chips are still available at neighboring Cookes of Dublin, my favorite quick service restaurant at Disney Springs.

The Express at Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe - Disney Springs Westside

Update - Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe is scheduled to close on August 1, 2017.  It looks like they will be getting a new location in the Town Center area of Disney Springs.

Earlier today, we had lunch at The Express at Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe at Disney Springs Westside.  We have eaten at neighboring Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe twice in the last year, and really loved our meals.  We have also dined at Wolfgang Puck Express at Disney Springs Marketplace, which is a quick service restaurant, like The Express.

The Express at Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe is near the AMC Disney Springs, so it was the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat before we saw Zootopia.

Simple Mills Chocolate Muffin & Cake Mix

This morning, I made chocolate muffins with Simple Mills Chocolate Muffin & Cake Mix.

I whisked together 2 large eggs, 1/2 cup water (can substitute lowfat milk), 3 tablespoons of grapeseed oil, and 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract before adding the baking mix.  The box says that the mix makes 12 muffins, but with the muffin scoop I used, I only ended up with 10.  I baked them for 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven in a muffin pan that I greased with a little bit of butter.  I let them sit for a couple of minutes before serving them.

Gluten Free Chicken Tenders at Disney World

Since we moved to Orlando in the summer of 2008, I have been eating gluten free chicken tenders at Disney World.  I first tried them at Columbia Harbour House in the Magic Kingdom, which used to bake them for me, but now, they have a dedicated fryer.  For years, Disney owned and operated restaurants at Walt Disney World have used AllergyFree Foods Chicken Tenders.  They are free of corn, and the top 8 food allergens.

Last fall, because of a supply issue, the AllergyFree Foods chicken tenders that Disney uses were replaced by Saffron Road and Ian's chicken tenders, but in the past month, they have been appearing at Disney restaurants again.

Boma - Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

This post includes my most recent breakfast and dinner reviews of Boma

On Monday, I had breakfast at Boma - Flavors of Africa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Boma, which features all-you-care-to-enjoy buffets at both breakfast and dinner, has long been one of our favorite table service restaurants at Disney World.

Albert, who has an amazing sense of humor and is probably the best server I have ever had at Boma, started us off with Jungle Juice, which is a combination of passion fruit, guava, and orange juices.

The Mara - Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Yesterday, I stopped at The Mara, a quick service restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, to check out their allergy-friendly menus.  The Mara is one of my favorite quick service restaurants at Disney World.  Their allergy-friendly menus list options for people with gluten/wheat, milk, egg, soy, fish/shellfish, and peanut/tree nut allergies.  I have also included some pictures and food reviews from previous visits.

Oatmeal is on the menu as being gluten/wheat friendly, but I would not order it unless I confirmed that it is made with certified gluten free oats.

ESPN Club Allergy-Friendly Menu - Disney's BoardWalk

Yesterday, I stopped at the ESPN Club on Disney's BoardWalk to check out their allergy-friendly menu.

The ESPN Club's allergy-friendly menu lists options for people with gluten/wheat, milk, egg, soy, fish/shellfish and peanut/tree nut allergies, and features American pub cuisine.

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival 2016

This post was updated with new food reviews on March 17, 2016

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival started earlier this week, and runs through May 30th.

For the third year in a row, gluten/wheat friendly options are marked in the Garden Passport, and for the first time, they are also noted on the large menu signs at each outdoor kitchen.  The passport contains this disclaimer, which is very similar to what you see on allergy-friendly menus at Disney World - "You may consult with a chef or special diets trained Cast Member before placing your order.  We use reasonable efforts in our sourcing, preparation and handling procedures to avoid the introduction of the named allergen into these menu choices; however, it is possible for the allergen to be introduced before the food is provided to us or inadvertently during our preparation or handling.  We do not have separate kitchens to prepare allergy-friendly menu items or separate dining areas for guests with allergies or intolerances."

Spinach & Four Cheese Hasselback Chicken

On Facebook recently, I saw a video for making Hasselback chicken.  I have long struggled to find chicken breast recipes that I like, because the chicken usually ends up tough and dry, except my oven baked barbeque chicken.

For my Hasselback Chicken, I used four of my favorite cheeses - feta, ricotta, Romano, and Asiago.

Seasons 52 - Orlando

Last weekend, we had lunch at the Seasons 52 on Sand Lake Road.  Locally, you can also find Seasons 52 in Altamonte Springs, and they have over 40 restaurants in 18 different states, which you can view here.

Seasons 52 features seasonally inspired menus, and they have gluten sensitive, lactose & dairy sensitivevegetarianvegan, and sodium friendly menus.
