The Wave...of American Flavors - Disney's Contemporary Resort

On our recent trip to Disney World, we had dinner at The Wave...of American Flavors, a table service restaurant at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

The Wave's menu features American cuisine inspired by local and regional ingredients. We have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at The Wave before, but not since we moved to California four year ago.

Topolino's Terrace - Disney's Riviera Resort

On our recent trip to Disney World, we had dinner at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera, a signature dining restaurant located on the top floor of Disney's Riviera Resort.

According to Disney's website, the restaurant, "takes its name from the Italian name for Mickey Mouse." We originally booked Topolino's for both breakfast and dinner on our first full day staying at Disney's Riviera Resort, but we ended up canceling our breakfast reservation, because the menu did not look that interesting to me, and it is currently the priciest breakfast on property, because it is still a character meal.

Primo Piatto - Disney's Riviera Resort

On our recent trip to Disney World, we stayed at Disney's Riviera Resort for six nights before moving to Disney's BoardWalk Villas for the second week of our vacation.

It was pretty late by the time our flight landed, so we decided to dine at our resort instead of visiting Disney Springs. While we were driving to Disney World, I mobile ordered dinner for my family from Primo Piatto, a quick service restaurant at Disney's Riviera Resort. Allergy-friendly options were not listed in the My Disney Experience app, so I asked to speak to a chef when we arrived at the restaurant.

Gluten Free Beignets at Scat Cat's Club Cafe

Over Thanksgiving Break, we set a family record for the number of times we visited Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter in one week.

The last few months we lived in Orlando, our Saturday morning tradition was to stop at Port Orleans - French Quarter to eat gluten free beignets with dipping sauces for breakfast, before heading to a Disney theme park. We had been eating gluten free beignets at Disney World about once a month for years, but once the dipping sauces were introduced, we wanted to have beignets for breakfast every week.

Kona Cafe Breakfast - Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

Last updated July 31, 2020

On Thanksgiving Day, we had breakfast at Kona Cafe, a table service restaurant at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

We made advance dining reservations the night before for one reason - Tonga Toast! My daughters, who can eat gluten, love the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, and my gluten-eating husband enjoys their pumpkin pancakes, a special they offer for the holidays.

Toledo - Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Last updated February 17, 2020

In late July, my daughters and I had dinner at Toledo - Tapas, Steak & Seafood, a new table service restaurant on the top floor of Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.

We were joined by Heather Wilkinson and Heather Burczynski with Middle of the Magic Travel. It was great to finally meet them in person. Heather and Heather share my love of everything Disney, and they both eat gluten free.

Ale & Compass Restaurant - Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Last week, we had dinner at Ale & Compass Restaurant with my friend Sarah from Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free at WDW. If you have not done so already, be sure to check out her 2019 Gluten Free & Dairy Free Guide to Walt Disney World, which gives you the basics for visiting Disney World with a special diet.

Ale & Compass, a table service restaurant, replaced the Captain's Grille at Disney's Yacht Club, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Trattoria al Forno Walk-Up Breakfast - Disney's BoardWalk

Over Thanksgiving Break, we had breakfast and dinner at Trattoria al Forno on Disney's BoardWalk.

Disney's BoardWalk Villas was our first Disney Vacation Club home resort, and we have so many great memories from vacations spent there with my extended family over the past 20 years. Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas are our favorite for gluten free dining, and Copper Creek Villas at the Wilderness Lodge are the best for holiday atmosphere, but we love to stay at the BoardWalk for the location, because it is an easy walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

My Favorite Table Service Restaurants at Disney World

Updated December 2, 2018

Last weekend, I updated My Favorite Quick Service Restaurants at Disney World post, which you can view here. Today, I am tackling my favorite table service restaurants, starting with some of my favorites at Disney Springs and the Disney Resorts, where no park pass is needed. My family prefers to eat at table service restaurants, because we feel the quality of the food is better, there are more gluten free options for me, and we like to sit and relax a couple of times each day during our Disney vacations. Links to more detailed, specific reviews are found throughout this post, including the headings.

Sanaa, which features African cooking with Indian flavors, is probably our favorite restaurant at Disney World. I love that I can watch the animals on Sunset Savannah, while I enjoy gluten free naan with accompaniments, lamb shank, butter chicken, and their amazing triple chocolate mousse dessert. Sanaa is open for breakfast (quick service), lunch, and dinner, and it is our top pick for holiday meals, including Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

Sanaa Dinner at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village

In July, we had dinner at Sanaa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village, which has long been one of our favorite table service restaurants at Disney World.

Sanaa features African cooking with Indian flavors at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On our summer trip to Disney World, we dined at Sanaa for breakfast for the first time, which you can read about here.

Sanaa Breakfast at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village

Last updated December 19, 2018

If I had to pick a favorite restaurant at Disney World, I would choose Sanaa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village.

Sanaa features African cooking with Indian flavors, and has long been a favorite of ours for lunch and dinner, so we were excited to try their breakfast service for the first time in July.

Trattoria al Forno Dinner - Disney's BoardWalk

Last updated May 26, 2019

In July, my family had dinner at Trattoria al Forno, a table service restaurant on Disney's BoardWalk. Trattoria al Forno, which serves Italian cuisine, has been one of our favorite restaurants at Disney World since it opened. It is a short walk from the back entrance of Epcot, which is located between the United Kingdom and France pavilions.

Trattoria al Forno uses gluten free breadcrumbs in all of their dishes, which means that fried calamari, meatballs, and chicken Parmesan are all safe options. Most allergy-friendly menus at Disney World will only include dishes that meet the standard of being safe for at least four allergies. If you see a dish you are interested in on the regular menu, and it is not on the allergy-friendly menu, have your server check for you or ask to speak to a chef.

Roaring Fork - Disney's Wilderness Lodge

This post was last updated February 17, 2019

On our trip to Disney World in July, we spent seven nights at Copper Creek, our new Disney Vacation Club home resort at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Every time we visit Disney World, I try to eat Mickey or Disney-themed waffles at least two or three times, because they are my favorite breakfast option along with the gluten free beignets at Port Orleans - French Quarter.

On this trip, I had gluten free waffles at Sanaa, Kona Cafe, and Roaring Fork, a quick service restaurant at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory - Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

For my family, no trip to Disney World is complete without at least two visits to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter for gluten free beignets with dipping sauces. Our last few months in Orlando, before we moved to California, we were having beignets for breakfast every Saturday, because the dipping sauces had been introduced, which take Sassagoula's beignets to the next level.

So you might be wondering what a beignet is and how it is pronounced.  A beignet (bin-yay) is deep fried dough covered in powdered sugar.  Beignets are popular in New Orleans, and are traditionally prepared to order, so they can be eaten hot, right out of the fryer.

Geyser Point Bar & Grill - Disney's Wilderness Lodge

The first seven nights of our trip to Disney World in July, we stayed at Copper Creek, our new Disney Vacation Club home resort at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

This was our first stay at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, which has long been one of my favorite resorts at Disney World. We have always loved the theming of the resort, which was inspired by National Park lodges from the turn of the century. It is a beautiful place to walk around, and you really feel like you are in the Pacific Northwest. There are great dining options at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, including Artist Point, Whispering Canyon Cafe (can we say gluten free corn bread!), Geyser Point Bar & Grill, Roaring Fork, and Territory Lounge, which is the only restaurant at Wilderness Lodge that we have not dined at yet.

Grand Floridian Cafe - Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Over Thanksgiving Break, we had breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe, a table service restaurant at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

The Grand Floridian Cafe used to be one of our favorite restaurants at Disney World, but after a few not so great experiences with food and service, we did not return for a while.  Their allergy-friendly menu had a mix of breakfast and lunch items to choose from when we dined there.
