Disney World Gluten Free Holiday 2017

When we moved to California last year, we talked about what time of the year we would return to Disney World, and decided that Thanksgiving Break would be perfect, because we would not miss any work or school, Orlando would not be too hot, and we would get to see all the Christmas decorations.

This year, we stayed at Disney's BoardWalk Villas, one of our Disney Vacation Club home resorts.

Scat Cat's Cafe at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

Over Christmas break, I had dinner at Scat Cat's Cafe at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter with my friends Sarah from Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free at WDW and Amanda from Eating Out Without.

Scat Cat's Cafe was a holiday table service restaurant open from December 21st to December 30th.

BabyCakes Gingerbread Boys

On Friday, I visited the gingerbread holiday ice castle at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Inspired by the movie Frozen, and the designs of "it's a small world", the display features 14 hidden Olafs.

A variety of baked goods, and frozen merchandise can be purchased in the adjoining shop.

I was excited to see gluten free gingerbread boy cookies made by BabyCakes.

The gingerbread boys are gluten free, dairy free, egg free, vegan, and kosher.

Ingredients: unrefined sugar, brown rice flour, garbanzo bean flour, potato starch, tapioca flour, white sorghum flour, fava bean flour, coconut oil, pear, arrowroot, vanilla extract, ginger, cinnamon, xanthan gum, baking soda, kosher salt, and nutmeg.

My cookie was so delicious!  It was thicker than the gingerbread boy I had last year, and it had just the right amount of sweetness and spices.

You can also purchase gluten free gingerbread men at the gingerbread display at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, which is also selling brownie bites, ginger chocolate-chip bread, and cinnamon toastie bread from BabyCakes.

November 30, 2014 Update - We stopped at the Grand Floridian Resort to see their Gingerbread House on Wednesday.

Because Thanksgiving was the next day, I did not purchase the BabyCakes ginger-chocolate chip bread or the cinnamon toastie bread, though I hope to try them before Christmas.

The BabyCakes brownie bites are being sold in packs of two.

We did end up buying several gingerbread boys, which we did not start eating until Friday.  They were not as good as the cookie I bought at the Contemporary Resort, because they were thinner, and much harder, maybe from being a little bit stale.  With a price tag of $5.75 per cookie, I was definitely disappointed.  In the future, I will be eating my gingerbread boys the day I purchase them.

Disney's Countdown to Christmas Calendar

This morning, in the Port Orleans-French Quarter gift shop, I saw this adorable Countdown to Christmas Calendar.  It contains 25 milk chocolate presents, each in its own little window.

I was so excited to see that they are gluten free!  I will definitely be picking up a couple of these advent calendars for my girls for Christmas.  Update - I went back later that day and purchased them for $13.95, minus my annual pass discount.

October 31, 2015 Update

I purchased two Countdown to Christmas Calendars today at Mouse Gear in Epcot.  The box looks almost the same as last year, except than Anna and Elsa have the coveted spot in front of the tree, and the ingredients and price have not changed.  My girls and I really enjoyed the chocolate presents, so I wanted to buy them again as soon as I saw them, because they sold out quickly last year.
