I was surprised when my friend Debbie, a fellow celiac and Disney lover, messaged me earlier this week that she had a new favorite restaurant in Orlando, The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium.
The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium opened on Universal CityWalk after we moved to California, so I have not had a chance to try it yet. In my private Facebook group, Gluten Free in Orlando, I have read some mixed reviews, but Debbie had a great experience.
Gluten free options are noted on their menu, and they have gluten free buns and gluten free pasta.
Gluten free appetizers include roasted brussel sprouts and harissa spiced pork kabobs. Debbie ordered the charred brussel sprouts with jalapeno mayo, cotija cheese, and ancho chili powder, which she said were amazing. You can read my friend Sarah's review of the harissa spiced pork kabobs on her blog Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free at WDW.
Debbie's daughter, who also has celiac, ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, which she said was fantastic, and she was given the option to add chicken or shrimp to the dish.
For an entree, Debbie had the Tour de France burger with bibb lettuce, roasted tomatoes, a sunny side up egg, avocado, and French Brie on an Udi's gluten free bun. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium does not have a dedicated fryer, but you can substitute mashed potatoes, a side salad, or a vegetable for the kettle chips or french fried potatoes that come with their burgers. Universal uses Udi's commercial gluten free buns, which are considerable better than the Udi's buns you can buy in grocery store.
For dessert, Debbie and her daughter shared a Peanut Indulgence milkshake with peanut butter ice cream, Snickers, Reese's peanut butter cups, peanuts, and fresh whipped cream, that she described as to die for. They were told that the chocolate and peanut butter ice creams are gluten free, and several blog readers have also had flourless chocolate cake at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium for dessert.
Other gluten free options for entrees include the Chicken Bercy, Cedar Plank New York Strip, and the Fire Grilled Pork Chop.
Debbie found the chef she spoke to to be very helpful, and I recommend speaking to a chef at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium before ordering.
A big thank you to Debbie for sharing her pictures and reviews. If you like to vacation in Orlando or Hilton Head, and are looking for an amazing rental property, be sure to check out Debbie's Disney-themed houses here. Her properties in Orlando are just three miles from Disney World.
What are your favorite gluten free options at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Universal CityWalk?
