Earlier today, we had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen in Monterey, California. CPK is one of our favorite chain restaurants, and we used to dine at their Waterford Lakes and Millenia Mall locations when we lived in Orlando. You can read my previous reviews here.
I rarely eat gluten free pizza at restaurants, because of cross contamination concerns, but I don't have to worry when I go to California Pizza Kitchen. In 2013, they introduced four gluten free pizzas that are safe for people with celiac disease - the original BBQ chicken pizza, pepperoni, mushroom pepperoni sausage, and margherita.

P.F. Chang's
This post was last updated May 25, 2019
Yesterday, we spent the morning at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. While we were hiking, we called the P.F. Chang's in Monterey to make a reservation for lunch, because I was in the mood for Chinese food.
I was shocked to see that P.F. Chang's now has a separate gluten free menu. On past visits, which you can read about here, gluten free options were listed in their regular menu.

Kara's Cupcakes - California
Three years ago, we took our first family trip to California. On that vacation, I tried Sprinkles and Kara's gluten free cupcakes for the first time. I am a fan of Sprinkles gluten free red velvet cupcakes, which you can read about here, but I have always enjoyed Kara's gluten free chocolate velvet cupcakes a little more.
Just a few days after moving to California in July, we stopped at the Kara's Cupcakes in San Jose after having lunch at Maggiano's Little Italy.

In-N-Out Burger - California
Since we moved to California in July, we have been hearing about In-N-Out Burger, so we drove to Gilroy today, just to try their famous burgers, french fries, and milkshakes. I had read a lot of positive reviews about dining gluten free at In-N-Out, but I also checked out their allergen information online.
In-N-Out Burger, which has a pretty small menu, has a good number of gluten free options - any of their burgers made Protein Style with a lettuce wrap, french fries, and chocolate, strawberry and vanilla shakes.

Asian Box - California
Last updated March 3, 2019
Yesterday, we spent the day in San Francisco. We started with breakfast at Mariposa, a 100% gluten free bakeshop in the Ferry Building. After stuffing ourselves full of gluten free almond bear claws, cinnamon buns, Pain au Chocolat, and a yummy tart, we walked down to Pier 39 to see the sea lions, then took a Gold Rush walking tour of the city. Originally, our plan was to have an early dinner at Pica Pica Arepa Kitchen, a 100% gluten free restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, that we first dined at three years ago on our last visit to San Francisco.
As the day wore on, and we talked about having a lighter dinner, we decided to go to Asian Box, which was within walking distance of our Gold Rush tour.
