The Artist's Palette - Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort

This morning, I had breakfast at The Artist's Palette, a quick service restaurant at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort.

The inspiration for Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, located in the Downtown Disney area, was New York's Saratoga Springs, a late 1800's retreat famous for its spas and horse racing.

This was my first time dining at The Artist's Palette, but we have had dinner at the neighboring table service restaurant, The Turf Club Bar & Grill.

As soon as I walked in, I saw a case of gluten free items like Go Raw raisin crunch sprouted bars, Rocky Mountain caramel popcorn, Enjoy Life soft baked double chocolate brownie and crunchy chocolate chip cookies, OMG...It's Gluten Free fudge brownies and chocolate chip cookies, and a variety of Lundberg rice chips.

When I asked about gluten free options at the counter, the cast member ringing up orders gave me their allergy-friendly menu, which lists dishes that are free of gluten/wheat, milk, egg, soy, peanut/tree nut, and fish/shellfish.  Gluten free breakfast options include a waffle with choice of bacon or sausage, the bounty platter, breakfast sandwich, cheese omelet, ham and cheese omelet, western omelet, omelet of the day, breakfast platter, and grits.  For kids, they have gluten free Mickey waffles and a breakfast platter.

After I placed my order for gluten free Mickey waffles and bacon, I was given a number on a stand, so a cast member could find me when my food was ready.  I love all the colorful lighting at The Artist's Palette, and the painted canvases hanging from the ceiling.

As I waited for my food, which only took about 5 minutes, I saw other dishes coming out with delicious looking eggs and breakfast potatoes, and right away regretted not getting the bounty platter, which includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, and a Mickey waffle.

When my plate arrived, it had a cover on it, which stated that it was an allergy order.  My waffles and bacon were good, but the waffles were made with Bob's Red Mill, which is probably my least favorite mix that is used on Disney property, because Mickey waffles made with Bob's can be a little heavy and doughy in the middle.  You can read about my favorite restaurants for Disney-themed waffles in my blog post The Best Thing I Ever Ate at Disney - Gluten Free Waffles.

The Artist's Palette also has an allergy-friendly lunch & dinner menu, which includes gluten free dishes like the lobster club sandwich, Italian flatbread sandwich, turkey & brie sandwich, buffalo chicken panini, roasted vegetable panini, Caprese flatbread, cheeseburger flatbread, pepperoni flatbread, sausage/mushroom/pepper flatbread, Caesar salad, Greek salad, and the Saratoga salad.  Gluten free kid's options include a turkey sandwich, hot dog, and macaroni & cheese.

You can read more about The Artist's Palette, and view their menus and hours on Disney's website here.

What are your favorite gluten free dishes at The Artist's Palette?
