Yak & Yeti Restaurant - Disney's Animal Kingdom

Last week, my daughters and I had lunch at Yak & Yeti Restaurant in Disney's Animal Kingdom.  Yak & Yeti, which serves Pan-Asian cuisine,  is a Landry's table service restaurant, just like Rainforest CafeT-Rex and Bubba Gump.

Because they are not Disney owned and operated, Yak & Yeti does not have an allergy-friendly menu, but very quickly, a chef came out to our table to speak to me.  On our previous visit, which you can read about here, I was impressed by all the gluten free options the chef offered me, and I loved the chicken tikka masala I ordered.  This dish is still on the menu, but I did not ask the chef I spoke to last week whether it was gluten free, because I wanted to try something new.

My daughters and I shared the lettuce cups with minced chicken breast and chopped vegetables.  I like my food to be well seasoned, but we all agreed that the chicken was very over salted, and that the lettuce wraps at P.F. Chang's are way better.

For an entree, the chef I spoke to suggested a modified version of the crispy honey chicken with sugar snap peas, carrots, and honey sauce.  I knew it would not be tempura battered or crispy, but my chicken was overcooked, and my dish could have used a bit more sauce.  The portion was perfect, and I enjoyed the taste of the sauce, my brown rice, and the vegetables it was served with, which were cooked perfectly.

For dessert, I was offered strawberry or chocolate cake.  I chose the strawberry, which my daughters and I recognized as soon as we saw it.  We have purchased this Inspired by Happiness Dreamin' of Strawberries White Chocolate Shortcake at Publix when we lived in Orlando.  It is also available at our local grocery store in California.  I prefer the Dreamin' of Chocolate, which I presume is the chocolate cake offered at Yak & Yeti, but both of them are very good.  You can read more about Inspired by Happiness cakes in my review here.

Sarah from Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free at WDW recently dined at Yak & Yeti, which you can read about in her review here.

December 27, 2017 Update

Since our visit in June, Yak & Yeti has introduced a gluten sensitive menu.  A big thank you to Heidi B. for allowing me to share these pictures.  Items on the menu include:

Appetizers - lettuce cups, house salad, chicken consomme, Thai chili shrimp

Salads & Entrees - kale & red quinoa salad, sweet & sour chicken, Atlantic salmon, Kobe beef burger, vegetable stir-fry, grilled certified Angus ribeye, grilled shrimp skewers, vegetable tikka masala, chef's fresh catch

Kids - grilled chicken breast or hamburger with Udi's bun and choice of two sides (jasmine rice, steamed vegetables, grapes, apple sauce, or Gogurt)

Dessert - dreamin' of chocolate dark and white layer cake, dreamin' of strawberries white chocolate shortcake, sorbet

What are your favorite gluten free options at Yak & Yeti?
