Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe - Magic Kingdom

Earlier today, we stopped at the four major quick service restaurants at the Magic Kingdom to check out their allergy-friendly menus, which list options for people with gluten/wheat, milk, egg, soy, fish/shellfish, and peanut/tree nut allergies.  Our first stop was Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, which recently introduced a reimagined menu featuring Tex-Mex cuisine.

Pecos Bill's is located in Frontierland, and offers the following gluten free options:
  • Entrees - beef, chicken, or vegetarian rice bowl; Southwest chicken salad
  • Desserts - allergy-friendly brownie, allergy-friendly chocolate chip cookie
  • Kids' Meals (served with choice of small lowfat milk or Dasani water, and grapes & carrots) - chicken rice bowl, vegetarian rice bowl

October 12, 2015 Update

Yesterday, we had lunch at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.  This was our first time dining there, and we were excited to try some of their new menu items.  I ordered the chicken rice bowl, which is served with cilantro rice and black beans.

Because I was afraid there might be a risk of cross contamination at the toppings bar, I asked for cheese, guacamole, and salsa from the kitchen.  I really enjoyed my rice bowl, especially with the addition of the cheese I was given.  The portion size was large, and I had a hard time finishing it.

The guacamole was not the best I have ever had, but it was decent.  The only topping I did not enjoy was the pre-packaged salsa I was given.  It might have been the most unappetizing salsa I have ever had.

For dessert, my daughters and I split an OMG...It's Gluten Free Fudge Brownie, which was as amazing as they always are.  Notice that my food arrived on a green tray, which was different than everyone else in our party.  A manager brought it out from the back, and it definitely took an extra 5 or 10 minutes.

My gluten-eating daughters both enjoyed their chicken fajita platters, and we look forward to dining at Pecos Bill's again soon.

What are your favorite gluten free options at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe?

  1. I have Celiac disease as well and am a former FL resident who is also looking for the best gluten free foods at Disney. I wanted to make a comment about Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn.
I ate here 2 years ago for lunch. As per usual, the chef did come out and speak with me about all of their gluten free items and what could be made gluten free. I chose (at the time) a grilled chicken sandwich on a GF bun with french fries. While I've never had a bad experience dining at Disney, I did experience cross-contamination here and became very ill. I ended up having to leave the park early due to the discomfort of cross-contamination. I don't like complaining, so I didn't say anything about getting "glutened". However, I do think that perhaps the fries were not GF or a regular bun was accidentally put on my sandwich. Pecos Bill has since changed it's menu since I got sick, but I still avoid eating here due to the memory. Again, I've never had a bad experience eating at Disney and everyone is wonderful in helping me find something to eat. But I thought I would just note that it's important to stress important it is to be completely gluten free to the chef when ordering here. Don't want anyone to experience cross-contamination like I did. =)
