Tokyo Dining - Epcot

Earlier today, my husband and I had lunch at Tokyo Dining in the Japan Pavilion at Epcot.  I was excited to try it for the first time after reading my friend Amanda's review on her blog Eating Out Without...Gluten and Dairy.

Tokyo Dining is not a Disney-owned and operated restaurant, so they do not have an allergy-friendly menu like the ones adopted earlier this year at table service and quick service restaurants at Disney World.

A manager came out to speak with me about gluten free options, and thankfully, the dish I was interested in could be modified to be gluten free with a few substitutions.

My husband and I had a table next to the window, so we had this beautiful view to enjoy as we waited for our food, which came out quickly.

For my entree, I chose the grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables and rice.  I was given gluten free soy sauce instead of the teriyaki sauce that usually comes with this dish, and white rice was substituted for the Sukiyaki beef rice, because it is not gluten free.  My salmon was nice and crispy, though a little bit overcooked, but I barely noticed it, because I ate each bite with my vegetables or rice.  The vegetables, which might have been my favorite part of this dish, reminded me of the vegetables I have had next door at Teppan Edo.  The blend of carrots, zucchini, onion, and cabbage were seasoned perfectly, and they were delicious on top of my salmon and rice.

The only gluten free dessert option at Tokyo Dining is fruit, but you can walk outside to one of the food carts at the Japan Pavilion and buy gluten free mochi ice cream bonbons, which you can read about here.

You can read more about Tokyo Dining, view their menu, and make advance dining reservations on Disney's website here.

What are your favorite gluten free dishes at Tokyo Dining?
