Dandelion Communitea Cafe

I met my friend Shelley for lunch today at Dandelion Communitea Cafe.  My first visit was over the summer after reading 10 Best Restaurants with Gluten-Free Menus in Orlando, FL on 10best.com.

Dandelion Communitea Cafe is located in this adorable green house on North Thornton Avenue in Orlando.  Indoor and outdoor seating is available.  If you are looking for vegetarian, locally grown, organic, gluten free food, you've come to the right place.  You can read their Why Gluten Free statement hereand check out their menu here.

I ordered the Bean There, Done That with quinoa and hummus.  It's described as a black & white bean duo mix it up with tomatoes, sweet corn, red onion, bell peppers, organic dairy or vegan (soy) feta cheese & cilantro with Gingerous dressing.  Besides the red onion, which I keep forgetting to omit, this is a wonderful dish.  The Gingerous dressing is delicious, and I love the combination of quinoa with all the fresh vegetables and feta.

Dandelion Communitea Cafe -- the Happy Hempy Hummus is GF and SF. http://dandelioncommunitea.com/eat/menu/

On my previous visit, I ordered the Happy Hempy Hummus, which is topped with hemp seeds, and served with vegetables and organic blue corn chips.  This dish is both gluten and soy free.  My daughters and I were really impressed with both the hummus and chips.

Dandelion Communitea Cafe -- Bean There Done That Bowl with quinoa and whirled peas guacamole. The gingerous dressing is so good! http://dandelioncommunitea.com/eat/menu/

The whirled peas guacamole I ordered with my Bean There, Done That on my last visit was just as delicious as the hummus.

All the gluten free and soy free options at Dandelion Communitea Cafe are clearly labeled on their menu.  I informed the cashier that took my order that I have Celiac, and spoke to him about cross contamination.  He said he would inform the kitchen staff and told me that they would change their gloves.

Dandelion Communitea Cafe carries vegan, gluten free baked goods from Raphsodic Bakery, which is a short distance away on North Mills Avenue.  Raphsodic makes gluten free double chocolate marzipan biscotti that are to die for.  They might be the best biscotti I have ever had.  As with BabyCakes at Downtown Disney, I find their baked goods to be hit or miss, especially anything with frosting.  Maybe it's because I am kinda partial to dairy and eggs.
