Storytellers Cafe - Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

Over Christmas Break, we spent a week at Disneyland Resort in California.  On New Year's Day, I was concerned about how crowded the theme parks would be, so I made dinner reservations at Storytellers Cafe at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

I was excited to try it after reading my friend Sarah's recent lunch review on her blog Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free at WDW.

Storytellers Cafe, a table service restaurant, offers a dinner buffet, but you also have the option of ordering a la carte, which is what my whole family chose to do.

Their allergy-friendly dinner menu had plenty of gluten free options for me to choose from.

Gluten-friendly appetizers: margherita pizzetta, BBQ pulled pork pizzetta, Grand Californian Roll, and chicken quesadilla.

Gluten-friendly entrees: grilled 10-oz New York strip, bone-in pork chop, pastrami burger, roasted half chicken, and allergy-friendly pasta.

Gluten-friendly desserts and kids' meals: raspberry sorbet, salmon filet, allergy-friendly pasta, and cheese or pepperoni pizza.

I ordered the BBQ pulled pork pizzetta with crumbled feta and arugula tossed in olive oil.  The portion was large, and even though this was an appetizer, it was plenty of food for me for dinner.

Storytellers Cafe uses Venice Bakery gluten free pizza crust, which is better than the Udi's pizza crust used at most restaurants at Disney World.  I liked my pizzette, but did not love it, mainly because it had way too much BBQ sauce on it.

Overall, no one in my family loved their meals, so we would probably skip Storytellers Cafe for dinner the next time we visit Disneyland Resort.

You can read more about Storytellers Cafe, make advance dining reservations, and view their menu and hours on Disneyland's website.

What are your favorite gluten free options at Storytellers Cafe?
