Cranberry Ice Cream Float

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our house.  All three trees are up, including our Disney tree, which is full of the Disney ornaments we have collected since moving to Orlando 7 1/2 years ago.

While we were having Thanksgiving dinner in Pittsburgh with my family, I remembered a drink my grandmother used to make at the holidays.  Both my mom and aunt said it contained two simple ingredients - cranberry juice and vanilla ice cream.

No one knew the exact ratio of cranberry juice to ice cream my grandmother used, but my mom advised me to use more ice cream than juice.

After I blended the ice cream and cranberry juice in my NutriBullet, my daughters arrived, spoon in hand, to sample.  At first, they seemed skeptical, but after their second taste, they asked for a glass.

I am definitely going to revive my grandmother's tradition of making cranberry ice cream floats at the holidays.  My daughters loved it, and it brought back childhood memories for me of a drink I looked forward to my grandmother making for us at Christmas.

Mare's Cranberry Ice Cream Float

Ingredients

1 pint (2 cups) vanilla ice cream
1 1/2 C cranberry juice

Directions

Blend the vanilla ice cream and cranberry juice in a blender.

The float will be pretty thick, so be careful when pouring it out of your blender, and you will probably need to serve it with some spoons.  Enjoy!

    1. Thanks Shirley! I made it again last night, and my girls liked it even better with the Talenti gelato I used. I preferred it with the Haagen-Dazs. Just glad they are enjoying it. :-)
