Tangaroa Terrace & White Water Snacks - Disneyland Resort

After we had breakfast at Steakhouse 55, we stopped at Tangaroa Terrace, a quick service restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel.

I looked at their allergy-friendly menus for breakfast and lunch.  If they have a separate dinner menu, it should be the same as the lunch menu, because they serve the same food for lunch and dinner.

Sarris Candies Gluten Free Milk Chocolate Mini Pretzels

When we were living in Pittsburgh, before I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I loved Sarris Candies chocolate covered pretzels.  I have eaten many varieties of gluten-filled and gluten free chocolate covered pretzels in my life, but Sarris is the best.

I love the taste of their milk chocolate, and each pretzel is coated in just the right amount of chocolate.  In general, I love chocolate covered pretzels, because they satisfy my craving for something salty and sweet.

Gluten Free at Downtown Disney - Disneyland Resort

We spent the first five days of our Christmas Break this year at Disneyland Resort.

Four out of the five nights of our trip, we had dinner at Downtown Disney, which I accidentally kept calling Disney Springs, because of the name change at Disney World.  The restaurants we dined at were not owned and operated by Disney, so they did not have the typical allergy-friendly menus you see at quick service and table service restaurants in the theme parks.

Gluten Free at Disneyland Park

Last week, we spent five days at Disneyland Resort.  You can read my food reviews from Disney California Adventure here.

We could only go in one park per day with our tickets, and we spent three of our days at Disneyland Resort at Disneyland Park.  Our first full day, we had breakfast at Carnation Cafe on Main Street U.S.A.  You can read my review, and view Carnation Cafe's allergy-friendly menus here.

Gluten Free at Disney California Adventure

Last week, we spent two days at Disney California Adventure.  We did not make any advance dining reservations, but they are available for Carthay Circle Restaurant, Wine Country Trattoria, and Ariel's Grotto, the three table service restaurants in the park.

Our first day at Disney California Adventure, we decided to have lunch at Carthay Circle Lounge, which is in the same building as Carthay Circle Restaurant.

Triple Oak Bakery Gluten Free Baklava

About a week and a half before our Christmas break started, I ordered gluten free Baklava from Triple Oak Bakery on Etsy.  I first learned about Triple Oak Bakery, a 100% gluten free bakery in Virginia, from Shirley at Gluten Free Easily.

Sadly, my baklava was delivered the day after we left for our trip to Disneyland and Las Vegas, so it sat in our school's mail room for over a week.

Roy's at Pebble Beach

On Christmas day, we had a late lunch at Roy's at Pebble Beach.  Right after we moved to California in July, we had reservations to celebrate our 15th anniversary at Roy's, but ended up cancelling them because of smoke from the Soberanes Fire.  We chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary, because Roy's was our favorite restaurant on our honeymoon in Hawaii.  We ate at Roy's on Kauai and Maui, and always had their amazing chocolate souffle, which is described as a flourless chocolate cake with a molten hot center, raspberry coulis, and vanilla bean ice cream.  I knew the souffle was gluten free, because I have eaten it at Roy's in Orlando, and it is listed on Roy's gluten free menu, which you can view here.

Our meal started with complimentary edamame, which my family devoured before I  had a chance to ask if it was gluten free.  Right away, we did ask our server about the chocolate souffle, because it takes a while to prepare.  Imagine my disappointment when I found out that they do not use the same recipe as other Roy's restaurants, and that it has flour in it, so it is not gluten free.  It turns out that the Roy's at Pebble Beach is an independent restaurant that is run by Pebble Beach Resorts.  They did not have a gluten free menu, but gluten free options were listed on their regular menu.

Zoey Brooke's Gluten Free Bakery - Bakersfield, CA

Yesterday, we stopped at Zoey Brooke's Gluten Free Bakery in Bakersfield, California on our drive back from Las Vegas.

I had special ordered some items in advance, and we also needed a place to have lunch.

Steakhouse 55 - Disneyland

Before we left Disneyland to drive to Las Vegas, we had breakfast at Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel.

The theming of the restaurant is Old Hollywood, and I loved the picture of Walt Disney at the entrance.

Carnation Cafe - Disneyland Park

On Saturday, we had breakfast at Carnation Cafe on Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland Park.  I made advance dining reservations for 10:20, so we could ride some of our favorite attractions before the park got too crowded.  Thankfully, the Candy Cane Inn, where we were staying, offers a free breakfast, so I had two Chobani blueberry blended Greek yogurts to tide me over.

Carnation Cafe does have an allergy-friendly menu that lists gluten free, milk free, egg free, soy free, nut free, and fish/shellfish free options.  Gluten-friendly breakfast options include the pancake breakfast, Classic Eggs Benedict, Oscar's Choice: All-American Breakfast, Mickey-shaped waffles, ham and cheese omelet, spinach and tomato egg white frittata, and sides of hickory-smoked bacon, sausage links, and seasonal fruit.

Bahama Breeze Island Grille

Over Thanksgiving Break, we traveled to our hometown of Pittsburgh.  While we were there, my husband's family asked us if we wanted to meet them for dinner at the Bahama Breeze Island Grille in Robinson Township.  Bahama Breeze, which serves Caribbean cuisine, is a restaurant chain owned by Darden Restaurants.  Earlier this year, I had a great meal at Seasons 52, which is also run by Darden.

Bahama Breeze does have a gluten sensitive menu, which has the typical disclaimer I am used to seeing, even at Disney World.  No one is going to guarantee you a gluten free meal, unless it is a 100% gluten free restaurant.  The key for me is that restaurants take appropriate precautions to keep my food safe.  When I started asking my usual round of questions about food preparation, our server said he would get a manager.  The manager I spoke to told me that my food would be prepared in a separate area of the kitchen, and that she would make it herself if I would like.
