Carnation Cafe - Disneyland Park

On Saturday, we had breakfast at Carnation Cafe on Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland Park.  I made advance dining reservations for 10:20, so we could ride some of our favorite attractions before the park got too crowded.  Thankfully, the Candy Cane Inn, where we were staying, offers a free breakfast, so I had two Chobani blueberry blended Greek yogurts to tide me over.

Carnation Cafe does have an allergy-friendly menu that lists gluten free, milk free, egg free, soy free, nut free, and fish/shellfish free options.  Gluten-friendly breakfast options include the pancake breakfast, Classic Eggs Benedict, Oscar's Choice: All-American Breakfast, Mickey-shaped waffles, ham and cheese omelet, spinach and tomato egg white frittata, and sides of hickory-smoked bacon, sausage links, and seasonal fruit.

I did not ask to speak to a chef, because the dish I was interested in was listed on the allergy-friendly menu as gluten/wheat friendly.  I ordered Mickey-shaped waffles with sausage links, and a side of the strawberry topping listed on the regular menu, which our server double-checked to make sure it was gluten free.

When my waffles arrived, I noticed that they did not look cooked enough, and they were not very warm.  I considered sending them back, but I did not want to wait for my food to be remade.

I loved the taste of my waffles, but they definitely could have been cooked a little bit more.  They reminded me of the Mickey waffles made with Namaste waffle mix I had on the Disney Fantasy.  The strawberry topping was decent, but I would not order it again, because the waffles were better with butter and syrup.  I considered ordering the hickory-smoked bacon instead of sausage, but did not regret my choice, because my sausage was great dipped in syrup, my favorite way to eat all my breakfast meats.

Carnation Cafe Allergy-Friendly Lunch/Dinner Menu

Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed our breakfasts at Carnation Cafe.  He had the apple-granola pancakes, which are not gluten free, with a side of hickory-smoked bacon.  My girls just had cinnamon-spiced hot cocoa, which is also not gluten free, because they wanted to have an early lunch instead of breakfast food.  Was sat outside at a table that had a great view of Main Street U.S.A.

You can read more about Carnation Cafe, view their menus, and make advance dining reservations on Disneyland's website here.  I highly suggest making reservations, because they were not accepting walk-ins the morning we were there.

What are your favorite gluten free options at Carnation Cafe?
