Pork Chops Milanese

I have always loved breaded pork chops and chicken cutlets, especially if they are coated in a mixture of bread crumbs and grated cheese before they are fried.

Locally, you can enjoy gluten free Pork Chop alla Milanese at Trattoria al Forno on Disney's BoardWalk, but I prefer the version I make at home.

Melinda's Gluten Free - Capitola, CA

Over Spring Break, we took a trip to California.  Lucky for me, there was an amazing gluten free bakery about a block away from our hotel in Capitola.  If you are in the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay area, you have to pay Melinda's Gluten Free Specialty Bakery a visit.

Melinda's sells gluten free bread and a variety of baked goods, and is a great place to eat at for breakfast or lunch.  They are a peanut free facility, and many of their baked goods are dairy free.

Wahlburgers - Orlando

Earlier today, we had lunch at Wahlburgers in Downtown Orlando, which is located at the corner of Church Street and Orange Avenue.

Wahlburgers does not have a gluten free menu, but on their website, they mention that they have a lot of delicious gluten free options, which they would love to tell you about if you ask.  When we entered the restaurant, we were told that we could choose quick service, where you order at the counter, or table service with a server taking our order.  Because I had so many questions, we opted for table service today, but in the future, we would probably choose quick service, which has tables on the opposite side of the restaurant.

Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room - Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Yesterday, we celebrated our daughters' birthdays at the Garden View Tea Room at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

My husband and I had afternoon tea at the Garden View Tea Room over 10 years ago, before I was diagnosed with celiac, and before we moved to Orlando.  I remember enjoying it, so I was excited to take our twins there for their birthday.

Siggi's Yogurt

I first tried Siggi's yogurt on our recent trip to California over Spring Break.  I bought a box of Siggi's low-fat blueberry yogurt tubes at the Whole Foods in Capitola, because I was looking for healthy grab-and-go snacks, and I have always loved Icelandic skyr yogurt.

Sadly, I have not found Siggi's yogurt tubes anywhere in Orlando, but I bought several varieties of their yogurt at the Whole Foods in Winter Park when we got home.

Provisions & Buzz Co. - Baldwin Park

Last Friday, we had dinner at Provisions & Buzz Co. in Baldwin Park.  The restaurant used to be Jack's Steakhouse, but it was rebranded late last year, and features a new menu and a beautiful new interior.

We arrived right when the restaurant opened at 5:00, because I prefer to eat out when restaurants are not busy.  When I asked our server about gluten free options, she sent out their general manager, who just happens to have celiac.

Fairytale Dining Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table - Magic Kingdom

Last night, we had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, a signature dining restaurant located inside Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom.

Cinderella's Royal table is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a meal there should be on everyone's Disney bucket list.  Since moving to Orlando eight years ago, we have had dinner there on two previous occasions, and enjoyed our meals.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill - Orlando

Last night, we had dinner at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, which is located in The Market at Mills Park in front of The Fresh Market.  Firebirds, which serves American cuisine, has restaurants in 18 states.  You can view their restaurant locator here.

I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door.  The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, and equally impressive is their gluten free menu, which you can view online here.

Zoes Kitchen

Yesterday, my daughters and I had an early dinner at Zoes Kitchen, a fast casual restaurant serving Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in Oviedo.  Zoes Kitchen will soon be opening a second location in the Orlando area on Sand Lake Road.  They currently have restaurants in 18 states.  You can view their restaurant locator here.

I have been wanting to try Zoes Kitchen for a while, because my husband has been raving about it for months, and my friend Amanda has a great review on her website The Gluten & Dairy-Free Review Blog.  My daughters had a volleyball game last night in Oviedo, so it was the perfect time to stop in for an early dinner after school.  I feel much safer eating at restaurants when they are not busy, because hopefully there is less of a risk of cross contamination.  I checked out Zoes' online gluten free menu before we got to the restaurant, but gluten free menu items were clearly marked on their menu above the counter.  Vegetarian and vegan options are available as well.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop - Disney's Beach Club Resort

Earlier today, my daughters and I had lunch at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, a table service restaurant at Disney's Beach Club Resort.

The theming of Beaches & Cream is that of an old-fashioned boardwalk-style ice cream shop along the Atlantic seashore.  Beaches & Cream is a popular dining destination and is very small, so be sure to make advance dining reservations.  People walking up to the restaurant today were being told that the wait would be about two hours.

Simple Mills Banana Muffin Mix

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Simple Mills Banana Muffin Mix at the Whole Food in Winter Park.

I whisked together 2 large eggs, 1 cup of lowfat plan kefir, and 2 tablespoons of grapeseed oil before adding the baking mix.  You can use 1 cup of water instead of kefir, but on the box, it suggested kefir for etra moist muffins, so I decided to give it a try, since I had some in the house.  I also added 2.7 ounces of chopped Mexican chocolate, which I stirred in after combining all the other ingredients.  The box says that the mix makes 12 muffins, but with the muffin scoop I used, I only ended up with 10.  I baked them for 25 minutes in a 350 degree oven in a muffin pan that I greased with a little bit of butter.  I let them sit for a couple of minutes before serving them.  Next time, I will check the muffins after 20 minutes to see if they are done, because I thought they could have been cooked a little less.
