On New Year's Day, we had breakfast at Carnation Cafe on Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland Park. I made advance dining reservations for 10:20, so we could ride some of our favorite attractions before the park got too crowded.
Gluten-friendly breakfast options include the pancake breakfast, Classic Eggs Benedict, Oscar's Choice: All-American Breakfast, Mickey-shaped waffles, ham and cheese omelet, spinach and tomato egg white frittata, and sides of hickory-smoked bacon, sausage links, and seasonal fruit. My friend Sarah from Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free at WDW recently tried the Oscar's Choice, which you can read about here.
Gluten-friendly options for guests ages 9 and under include the All-American Breakfast, Mickey-shaped waffles, and silver dollar pancakes.
I ordered gluten free Mickey waffles with a side of bacon. Last year, I ordered my waffles with sausage and a side of the strawberry topping mentioned on the regular menu, but I did not like it enough to order it again, so this year, I chose the apple topping instead. Our server did verify that it was gluten free.
Carnation Cafe uses a Bob's Red Mill mix to make their gluten free waffles, which I am usually not a fan of. The waffles were very dense, but they tasted great, maybe because of the syrup they add to the batter.
I ate a few bites dipped in syrup, which I enjoyed, but I ate most of my Mickey waffles with the side of apple topping I ordered. The apples were not overly sweet, and they nicely complemented the waffles.
I also loved my bacon, dipped in syrup of course, like all breakfast meats should be. I enjoyed my breakfast at Carnation Cafe so much, I wanted to go back later in the week, but my family was not on board with that plan, even though they liked their meals as well.
Carnation Cafe has indoor and outdoor seating. We asked for the first available table, but I definitely prefer eating outdoors if the weather is nice.
