Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly

Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly was recently voted best cupcake in the Best of Orlando 2015 poll.

Sweet is owned by Hollis Wilder, three time winner of Cupcake Wars, one of our favorite shows on The Food Network.

Sweet's Orlando store is located in Waterford Lakes Town Center, and in 2011, Miss Holly opened a second location in Jacksonville in St. Johns Town Center.

Every day, Sweet by Holly has gluten free and vegan options available for purchase.  They are displayed on the counter, separate from all the gluten-filled cupcakes.  Every Thursday in 2015, classic sized vegan and gluten free cupcakes are only $2.

My favorite flavors at Sweet by Holly are the chocolate with chocolate buttercream and the red velvet with cream cheese frosting.  The cupcakes, which are made with a high quality all-purpose gluten free flour, are always incredibly moist.  I usually remove about half of my frosting, because it is a little too sweet for my taste.  Other gluten free options include the chocolate raspberry, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate with vanilla buttercream, vanilla (yellow cake) with chocolate or vanilla buttercream, and red velvet with white chocolate buttercream.  The vegan cupcakes are made with all organic ingredients, and are soy free and gluten free.  Chocolate or vanilla vegan cake is topped with either vanilla or chocolate buttercream, which is made with organic palm oil.

I had a chance to meet Hollis Wilder at a cupcake decorating class at the Winter Park Library a couple of years ago.  She was so sweet, and we had a lot of fun learning how to decorate cupcakes.

The employees of Sweet by Holly were incredibly accommodating.  They baked us gluten free red velvet and chocolate mini cupcakes, and provided us with our own table, frostings, sprinkles, and candies to avoid cross contamination.  They were very up front about the fact that their gluten free cupcakes are baked in a shared facility, but they do take precautions to protect against cross contamination.

We always stop in at Sweet by Holly after having dinner at California Pizza Kitchen at Waterford Lakes, because CPK does not have any gluten free desserts, and we will rarely pass up the opportunity to get a cupcake.
