California Pizza Kitchen Gluten Free Margherita Pizza

Earlier today, we stopped at the Walmart on Turkey Lake Road to look for California Pizza Kitchen's new gluten free frozen pizzas.  Walmart didn't have the BBQ Chicken pizza I was hoping to find, but I did purchase a Margherita pizza.

I have not liked tomato sauce on pizza or pasta since I was a child, so I wasn't too sure I was going to like this pizza.  Before I was diagnosed with celiac, California Pizza Kitchen's white pizza with spinach was our favorite frozen pizza.

CPK's Margherita pizza is smaller and more expensive than its gluten-containing counterparts, but there was plenty of pizza for my daughters and I to share for dinner.  I followed the directions, baking it directly on my oven rack at the bottom of my oven for 13 minutes at 425 degrees.

The Margherita pizza has vine-ripened tomatoes, sweet basil, mozzarella, and tomato sauce infused with balsamic vinegar on a crispy thin crust.  I thought the crust was pretty impressive, and the pizza had a good amount of toppings.  My gluten-eating daughters, who aren't big pizza fans, both enjoyed it.  Katie gave it a 9 out of 10, only because she doesn't love pizza.

I was a little bit bothered by the taste of the tomato sauce, but then I decided to eat my Caprese salad right on top of my pizza, which masked the taste of the sauce.  By the way, the combination of the two was delicious!  I can't wait to try the BBQ chicken pizza, which I haven't been able to find locally.  I went to the one store in Orlando that was supposed to have it, but it wasn't in stock, and I didn't see a sign for it.  You can find CPK's product locator here.  As far as allergen warnings, the Margherita pizza contains milk and soy.

California Pizza Kitchen's gluten free Margherita pizza was one of the best gluten free frozen pizzas I have ever had, and I would buy it again.  I have also tried several gluten free pizzas at California Pizza Kitchen restaurants, which you can read about in my CPK review here.

Have you tried California Pizza Kitchen's new gluten free frozen pizzas?  Which one is your favorite?
