Raglan Road Brunch - Downtown Springs

Today, I had brunch at Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant with my friends Sarah and Amanda from Gluten-Free & Dairy Free at WDW and Eating Out...Without.

The Rollicking Raglan Brunch is served from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

While we waited for our food, we got to enjoy some Irish step dancing.  You can view Raglan Road's entertainment schedule here.

I have eaten at Raglan Road many times for lunch and dinner, but this was my first time dining there for brunch, so I wanted to order something from their brunch menu.

I decided on the eggs en cocotte, which is described as farm fresh eggs baked with spinach, mushrooms and Dubliner cheddar cheese, served with toast soldiers.  Since I couldn't have the toast soldiers, I asked for potato roasties as a substitute.

When I read the description of this dish, I was expecting something along the lines of an omelet.

I can see why this dish comes with bread, because it is very soupy, and would be great for bread dipping.

I really enjoyed the eggs that were baked into the dish, and the mushrooms.  I used my potato roasties as a substitute for bread, and ate each potato with a bite of the eggs en cocotte.  Irish cheddar has a much stronger aroma and taste than the cheddar cheese I am used to in America.  I had Dubliner cheddar cheese in this dish, and Kerrygold cheddar earlier this week, and both times found the taste and odor a little off-putting.

I ordered a side dish of fried shrimp, because I can't imagine going to Raglan Road and not ordering my favorite meal.  They were very good, but I prefer the shrimp from the kids menu, without tails.  Like most fried items at Raglan Road, they needed a little bit of salt, which was easily remedied at the table.

My eggs en cocotte were so rich, and I had just eaten fried shrimp, so I really needed a palate cleanser.  When I arrived at Raglan Road today, I had plans to order the strawberry and apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and fresh cream, but there was no way I could eat that huge dessert after my brunch, so I went with the Dundon's Delight instead.  Dundon's Delight is a raspberry pavlova with vanilla pod ice cream and raspberry sauce.  A pavlova is a meringue dessert with a crisp outside crust and a soft, light inside.  It was the perfect dessert after a big meal.

Our waitress told us that Raglan Road is going to be making some changes to their menu soon, and specifically mentioned gluten free desserts.  They have two amazing options right now, so I look forward to seeing what else they will be offering.  Another change is that gluten free buns are now available at Raglan Road for sandwiches.

You can view Raglan Road's menus on their website here, and make advance dining reservations on Disney's website here.  Raglan Road is one of the best restaurants at Disney World for special diets.  Most of their dishes are gluten free, or can be modified to be gluten free.

December 1, 2015 Update - Raglan Road now has a gluten free menu on their website, which you can view here.
