Sprinkles - Disney Springs

Earlier today, Town Center officially opened at Disney Springs.  This neighborhood features new retail locations and dining options like Sprinkles Cupcakes and D-Luxe Burger.  More shops and restaurants will be opening in Town Center in the coming months.

As soon as Town Center opened, we headed straight for Sprinkles Cupcakes, which is located across the bridge from Morimoto Asia and Raglan Road.

While we were in line with my friend Sarah from Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free at WDW, we talked to a Sprinkles employee about the precautions they take to avoid cross contamination.  Gluten free red velvet cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies are prepared in a separate area of the kitchen, and made with dedicated pans and utensils.  For special diets orders, employees change their gloves and use cupcakes and cookies from the kitchen instead of the display cases.

The line to get into the shop was very long today, and we needed to get to church, so we waited in the shorter line for the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM.

We were quickly able to place our order on the touchscreen, and within a minute, the door opened and four cupcakes appeared. The cast member I spoke to in the ATM line told me that the gluten free red velvet cupcakes are boxed by an employee using clean gloves and dedicated utensils that are labeled with the words "gluten free" on them.

The cupcakes were not labeled on the outside of the box, but the red "G" helped me figure out what cupcake was mine.  I first had a Sprinkles gluten free red velvet cupcake in Beverly Hills three years ago, and remember enjoying it, but the cupcake I had today exceeded my expectations.  The cake itself was incredibly moist, and the frosting was very good, though there was easily about twice as much as I needed.  If you love red velvet cupcakes, you have got to pay Sprinkles Disney Springs a visit.  You will not be disappointed.  I hope to sample their gluten free chocolate chip cookies tomorrow, and take some pictures inside the store.  Sprinkles does have vegan red velvet cupcakes, but they are not gluten free.  Their gluten free red velvet cupcakes do contain dairy, so Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC - Disney Springs is your best option if you are gluten and dairy free.

May 16, 2016 Update

This morning, my friend Jennifer and I stopped at Sprinkles to purchase some gluten free red velvet cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies.  When we got there at 10 am, there was already a line to get into the store, but no line at the Cupcake ATM.  My daughters and I sampled the chocolate chip cookie after dinner tonight, and all agreed that it was really amazing.  The texture and taste were great, but it stopped just short of chocolate chip cookie perfection for me, because I don't like a lot of chocolate chips in my cookies.  My cookie came from the back, in a small bag sealed with a sticker that said "gluten free chocolate chip."  Jennifer, who also has celiac, loved the gluten free red velvet cupcake, and said it was the "best ever."

I earned a free cupcake when I signed up for Sprinkles Perks.  You can sign up here.  All you need is the phone number you used to sign up for Sprinkles Perks to get your free cupcake inside the store.  You cannot get a free cupcake at the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM.

I was told that Sprinkles does have several flavors of ice cream that are gluten free, so you can order a Sprinkles Sundae with a cupcake and ice cream, or a cookie ice cream sandwich.

June 17, 2017 Update

Last week, I had a gluten free red velvet cupcake at Sprinkles in Disney Springs.  I purchased it at the Cupcake ATM, because I was in a hurry, and there was no line outside.

The red velvet cupcakes at Sprinkles are always consistently good, and I like to stop there after eating at D-Luxe Burger.

December 10, 2017 Update

During our trip to Disney World over Thanksgiving Break, I had a Sprinkles Sundae with a gluten free red velvet cupcake, and vanilla ice cream scooped from a fresh container of ice cream with a clean scoop.  It was so good, I plan on stopping in again the next time we are at Disney Springs.  I did remove most of the icing though, because I like my desserts sweet, but not too sweet.

What are your favorite gluten free options at Sprinkles?
