Siggi's Yogurt

I first tried Siggi's yogurt on our recent trip to California over Spring Break.  I bought a box of Siggi's low-fat blueberry yogurt tubes at the Whole Foods in Capitola, because I was looking for healthy grab-and-go snacks, and I have always loved Icelandic skyr yogurt.

Sadly, I have not found Siggi's yogurt tubes anywhere in Orlando, but I bought several varieties of their yogurt at the Whole Foods in Winter Park when we got home.

I liked the vanilla & cardamom, and the orange & ginger, but of the original three I bought, blueberry was my favorite.

This week, I also tried Siggi's raspberry, and mixed berries & acai, which I like as much as the blueberry.  Locally, you can purchase Siggi's at Whole Foods, The Fresh Market, and select Publix and SuperTarget stores.  You can view Siggi's store locator here.

Siggi's products are certified gluten free and kosher, and do not contain GMO's, or artificial sweeteners, preservatives, thickeners, flavors or colors.  They are made with all natural milk from grass-fed cows that are not given growth hormones, and are high in protein, and contain less sugar than the leading flavored yogurts.

Siggi's yogurts are thick and blended, and not overly sweet, which I love.  My favorite way to eat Siggi's is with fresh fruit and Bakery on Main blueberry scone oatmeal, which I cook and allow to cool to room temperature before putting it on a plate with my yogurt and fruit. (Update - I no longer eat Bakery on Main oatmeal, because they no longer use purity protocol oats)

I have also use Siggi's yogurt to make overnight yogurt oats.  The first time I made them, I combined a container of Siggi's blueberry yogurt with 1/4 cup of Trader Joe's purity protocol rolled oats, and 1/2 cup of finely chopped strawberries in an airtight container, and allowed them to sit overnight in my refrigerator.  Served with bananas, I thought they were very good, but next time, I would probably only use 1/4 cup of strawberries.

I have also made overnight yogurt oats with Bakery on Main Happy Steel Cut Oats.  A couple of hours before I went to bed, I combined one container of Siggi's mixed berries & acai yogurt with 1/4 cup of uncooked steel cut oats, and 1/4 cup of organic frozen blueberries in an airtight container.  The steel cut oats still had a bit of chew to them in the morning, which I really enjoyed, and I loved the blueberries in the yogurt combined with the fresh mango I ate my yogurt oats with.

February 14, 2017 Update

It is kind of strange to reread this post, because I wrote it shortly after the job interview that brought us to the west coast.

This past weekend, I bought a container of Siggi's triple cream raspberry yogurt, which contains pasteurized whole milk, pasteurized cream, raspberries, cane sugar, fruit pectin, and live active cultures.  I topped it fresh raspberries and ate it for breakfast this morning.  It was heavenly, and I felt like I was eating fresh fruit with raspberry whipped cream.  I will definitely be buying this again once I figure out whether I purchased it at Nob Hill Foods in Watsonville, or the Whole Foods in Capitola, California.

You can read more about Siggi's on their website here.

What are your favorite Siggi's products?

  1. Siggi's was started in my teeny hometown of Norwich, NY, using local milk. They are great neighbors, unlike chobani which pollutes, violates osha and ruins the roads. Thanks for the plug!
