The Tasty Trend - Winter Garden

Last week, I had a chance to sample four different gluten free cupcakes made by The Tasty Trend, a 100% gluten free bakery specializing in cupcakes.  On February 13th, just in time for Valentine's Day, they will celebrate the grand opening of their storefront in Winter Garden.

My favorite cupcake was the tasty chocolate, which my gluten-eating daughters enjoyed as well.  As I ate it, I kept thinking that it reminded me of milk chocolate, which is great, because I love milk chocolate.  The chocolate cake was moist, and the chocolate buttercream was not overly sweet.

I am not always a huge fan of vegan baked good, especially cupcakes, but my daughters and I were really impressed by The Tasty Trend's tasty vegan chocolate cupcake.  The frosting and cake were darker than the previous cupcake, and had more of a dark chocolate taste.  The Tasty Trend also offers a tasty vegan vanilla cupcake with vanilla cake, and vanilla or chocolate buttercream.  All vegan cupcakes are baked first to prevent cross contamination, but they are baked on the same equipment as gluten free cupcakes that contain dairy and eggs.

My girls both loved the strawberry cream, and thought it was the best cupcake we tried.  Even though I am a chocolate lover when it comes to cupcakes, I thought the strawberry cream cupcake with its strawberry cake and strawberry buttercream frosting was delicious.

We saved the red velvet for last, because we are all huge red velvet fans, but we weren't crazy about the cream cheese frosting, which is strange, because I liked the frosting when I tried this cupcake at Splitsville in Disney Springs, which sells cupcakes from The Tasty Trend.

The Tasty Trend makes a denser cupcake, but all of their cakes are very moist, which I would rather have than a lighter cake that is dry.  They bake with Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour, which contains sweet white rice flour, whole grain brown rice flour, potato starch, whole grain sweet white sorghum flour, tapioca flour, and xanthan gum.

The Tasty Trend was born out of a mother's desire to make safe cupcakes for her son, who has food allergies.  You can read Andrea Collin's story here.

I hope to attend the grand opening of their new storefront on February 13th.  Doors open at 11:00 AM, and a special guest, Green Bay Packers Super Bowl XLV Champ Nick Collins, Andrea's husband, will be handing out orders.  My husband had to remind me that he was part of the winning team that beat our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, but I can forgive him for that when delicious gluten free cupcakes are involved.

The Tasty Trend provided these cupcakes to me free of charge, but the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
