Boardwalk Pizza - Winter Park

A couple of weeks ago, we had dinner at Boardwalk Pizza in Winter Park with family that was visiting from out of town.  We first discovered Boardwalk Pizza about four years ago, when I was still teaching full time.

Before Boardwalk Pizza, I had never had a gluten free pizza that I liked at a restaurant.  Last month, I found this picture of a Margherita pizza I ordered there years ago.  I enjoyed their pizza so much, we ate at Boardwalk Pizza pretty regularly until I retired from teaching and started making pizza with Chebe at home.

Boardwalk's gluten free menu includes pizza, cheese ravioli, penne marinara, gluten free meatballs, chocolate mousse, and gluten free beer.  The owners have family members with celiac, so they take the proper precautions to protect your food from cross contamination.  The cooks change gloves for gluten free orders.  Gluten free pizzas are cooked in separate pans, and the regular pizzas are stretched with cornmeal, so that there is no flour being thrown in the air.  They use separate water and cooking equipment for their gluten free pasta.

I always order a white pizza, because I am not a fan of red sauce.  I usually ask for a Margherita pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and garlic.  I find that I have to add salt to my pizza, which is something I do at home as well.  The Senza Glutine pizza shells that Boardwalk Pizza uses make a thin crust pizza that is slightly sweet.  You can read more about Senza Glutine pizza crusts, which are free of gluten, dairy, eggs, and soy, here.

The pizza at Boardwalk Pizza is always consistently good, and the chocolate mousse cup is a nice way to end your meal.  We did not order one on our last visit, because I had chocolate chess pie waiting for my family at home.  I have not tried their pasta yet, but hope to on a future visit.

Boardwalk Pizza has all 5 star reviews on the Find Me Gluten Free App.  My husband and daughters, who do not need to eat gluten free, enjoy their gluten-filled pizza, pasta, and garlic knots.  You can read more about Boardwalk Pizza, and view their menu on their website here.

What are your favorite gluten free options at Boardwalk Pizza?
